No More Pokies in Torquay!

The Surf Coast Shire does not want any more pokies! The community strongly opposes the Torquay Hotel's application for 15 additional poker machines on top of their existing 30. 

Each individual poker machine in the Surf Coast Shire take $40,000 from the community every year. This is way too much money that could be spent in local business during off-peak season and school lunches rather than into these harmful machines.

New owners took over the Hotel last year, and they already own two venues within the City of Greater Geelong. The Grovedale Hotel and Barwon Heads Hotel collectively take $12.4 million from the community- do we want this kind of money being taken from the Surf Coast Shire?
