NSW Local Government Candidate survey - Alliance for Gambling Reform

NSW Local Government Candidate gambling reform survey

Australians lose $23 billion to gambling annually and despite having 0.3% of the world's population, we have 20% of the world's poker machines. Like tobacco, alcohol or drugs, poker machines are a dangerous product, yet they are not subject to the rigorous and necessary regulations that the other products face.

NSW already has the most heavily exposed Australian citizens to gambling losses with almost half of the $11.7 billion lost on pokies nationally coming from NSW. As the Local Government elections loom, we want to know where you stand so our nearly 30,000 supporters can make an informed vote to keep our communities safe from gambling.

Our survey is a short, 5 question survey that will only take you 5min to complete.

Do you support policies to bring poker machine losses below $5b per annum?

NSW has the highest pokie density in Australia and is currently losing over $5.7 billion a year to poker machines. This number is set to rise to $7 billion by 2021. We want to see our losses capped at $5 billion per year.
