We’re partnering with the North East PCP to offer training in taking peaceful, direct action. This kind of protest has been an essential part of the movement for civil rights in the US, the fight against apartheid in South Africa, and the protection of the Franklin River wilderness in Tasmania.
It’s already been a part of the campaign against poker machines here in Victoria.
If you’d like to do more than we’ve asked of you so far, but aren’t sure how, this training is for you. We’ll show you how to plan and contribute to direct action protests that are safe, empowering, fun and impactful.
The training will be run by Nicola Paris from Counteract, who has many years of experience skilling up people from around Australia to take direct action for a variety of causes.
Soon after the training, we’ll put what we’ve learnt into practice, and take direct action at a local pokies venue. This will be the first of many opportunities we hope to create for you to show the depth of your commitment in the scale of your actions.
