The Alliance for Gambling Reform is undertaking a campaign to survey candidates in the Victorian Local Government Elections on their views towards gambling harm, to inform voters before they send their postal votes in.
Increasingly, Victorian voters are becoming more and more concerned about the amount of pokie machines in their state, and the harm that it causes their communities, whether it be financial, or as a public health issue through the mental-ill health, homelessness, chronic illnesses and domestic violence occurrences that are a consequence of gambling.
Here are some resources for candidates before they fill out our survey:
Candidate Factsheet including general informavtion on gambling, stories with those with lived experience of gambling harm and state, federal and council advocacy asks.
Candidate pledges in print form. Candidates may print a pledge out and post a photo with it to post on their social media.
Thank you for taking the time to participate in our campaign and good luck in the elections!
