Recasting the league's constitution would go a long way toward ensuring the sport's place at the heart of the community for generations to come.
The AFL's signing of a 5-year deal with BetEasy appears to give the lie to the idea that it is an organisation of and for the community.
It is a business, and it seems its core value is the pursuit of profit , with any societal benefits being incidental.
Recasting the league's constitution, to exclude privately-owned clubs and to ensure all levels of governance are fully democratic; would go a long way toward ensuring the sport's place at the heart of the community for generations to come.
Yours sincerely,
