The AFL has signed a new gambling deal with BetEasy whose chief executive officer claimed the AFL "… sets the bar for integrity and fan engagement among Australian sports.” ('The Age' 1.2.2020)

The AFL has signed a new gambling deal with BetEasy whose chief executive officer claimed the AFL "… sets the bar for integrity and fan engagement among Australian sports.” ('The Age' 1.2.2020) I beg to differ. This is a bad deal for fans and families. It is another example of the AFL pursuing the almighty dollar at the expense of ordinary fans and families who include children vulnerable to the false promises of the gambling industry. The real heroes of integrity and fan engagement are the increasing number of AFL clubs who are disengaging with the gambling industry as an act of social responsibility. When will the AFL start listening to its grassroots stakeholders and do the same?
