My father was a professional gambler for years (unsuccessful) and my cousin is a recovering gambling addict and a vocal spokesperson for the anti-gambling movement, so I'm very familiar with the impacts of problems gambling.
I support any moves to make it harder for people to gamble, and to reduce the temptations in the community to gamble.  The answers are to (a) reduce the supply by reducing the ways in which people can gamble, remove temptations etc, and (2) reduce the demand by supporting people away from gambling and providing safe alternatives for their cravings
I look forward to working with AGR to find practical solutions to these problems
Shoheli Sunjida Officer I have always been a strong supporter of reducing the number pokie machines. I have actively supported and gathered support from other community members to stop more pokies in Officer in 2017-2018. The council gave permit and thought no one can do anything. But Community stood up against it and won. We need to reform the Gambling act in order to protect people's life, families, society and country. Gambling is destroying the future of many people. This needs to be stopped.
Chandon Fernando Central Policies I support -
Local Government Advocacy Asks
I support peoples rights to choose, however, I also recognise gambling can be harmful and can be an addiction for some people. I support balanced and healthy regulations around gambling and providing support to people with gambling problems.
