Which of the policies
referred to in our

do you support?
What is your position on poker machine policy?

Marijke  Graham Barngeong All of them. I'm especially keen on making sure that EGM venues don't sponsor kids or community sport and ensuring that Council's don't hold events in EGM venues.
David White Barngeong Poker machines are an unnecessary evil.
Mike Symon Jubilee Reducing venue hours, removing pokies from all Council owned or controlled land (and keeping them off) and substantially reduce the cap for the number of EGM licences in Maroondah.
Reducing spin rates and limiting the size of, and multiple bets per game.
Emily Brightside  Jubilee Venues that operate pokies shouldn't be eligible for rates discounts at all, that's an insult to all residents who pay full price while these venues rake in fortunes off peoples misery.
Suzanne Stojanovic  McAlpin My position is that there is a direct correlation between the number of electronic gambling machines and the level of family violence in a community; there is direct correlation between the amount of money lost and the severity of the violence in the home. I support financial incentives for venues to remove EGMs from their premises and oppose any additional EGMs in community. In addition, all gambling advertising should be banned from all media, in much the same way as cigarette advertising was banned. My priority is the health and wellbeing of my community. For this reason I would like to see EGMs strictly managed - or, better, eliminated from my community.
Sebastian Moon McAlpin I believe it's a form of entertainment, yet should not be used to exploit... addicted gamblers or enticing the vulnerable into winning big sums of money.
Jay  BHAT Tarralla In this difficult times people should minimize or stop Gambling and look after their families , friends and community , its a high time to spend your hard earned money wisely and not waste it on gambling and put your family in a difficult situation ! Definately reduced time and alchohol limit at the venue when you play !
I have selected only one answer yest the reason being this industry also create employment .
Tasa Damante Wicklow I support all of the Alliance for Gambling Reform's positions on gambling, understanding the social, economic and health impacts gambling has on the community, families and individuals. We need to break the cycle, and I support Maroondah's efforts to address the effects of gambling in our community through various policies including our health and wellbeing strategy, families and youth strategies, planning and local laws, etc.
Les WILLMOTT Wicklow all
Peter Feeney Wonga I support Gambling Free Public Spaces which will require additional Council support of Community Houses and other venues that can replace the low-cost facilities provided to organizations such as Seniors Groups by gambling venues.
I also support Gambling Free Community Sport which will require a more creative and consistent approach to working with sporting clubs to address this issue.
I will continue Maroondah Councils current strong stance opposing the expansion of gambling in our municipality.
Donna MacKinnon Wonga I support the Council Social Policy, Planning and Enforcement and Advocacy policies. I think they are all excellent policies and in particular support the importance of moving any stigma away from those who use these machines. I think the advertising of all forms of gambling should be banned from sporting events and am personally appalled at the rise of betting apps.
Nora  Lamont  Wonga Councils Social Policy
I have fought to reduce the number of pokies in our municipality as we have one of the highest rates of usage in the metropolitan area. Councils need more say when it comes to pokies in their LGAs
