AREA'S LOSSES
This council area is the worst impacted by poker machines in NSW. It is ranked 1st in the state for losses through club pokies, and 3rd for pub machines. It is ranked the 4th most disadvantaged council area in the state. The El Cortez Hotel is ranked no. 1 in the state by poker machine net profit. Fairfield is currently the only council area entirely defined as a Band 3 area, meaning no new poker machines can be allowed in. There is no requirement for machines to be removed. However, it is also one of only two councils in NSW to have a gambling impact policy, and was the first to adopt one. The Council is a strong supporter of community based gambling reform activities.
