The Alliance for Gambling Reform is surveying candidates in the New South Wales Local Government Elections on their views towards gambling harm, to inform voters before they head to the polls.
Increasingly, voters in NSW are becoming more and more concerned about the amount of poker machines in their state, and the harm that it causes their communities, whether it be financial, or as a public health issue through the mental-ill health, homelessness, chronic illnesses and domestic violence occurrences that are a consequence of gambling.
Here are some resources for candidates to read before filling out our survey:
Candidate Factsheet including general information on gambling and its harms, stories with those with lived experience of gambling harm.
Candidate Policy Guide with state, federal and council advocacy asks.
Candidate pledges in print form. Candidates may print a pledge out and post a photo with it to post on their social media.
Thank you for taking the time to participate in our campaign and good luck in the elections!
