Personally, I never gamble, yet know first hand of many people in my own community who are badly impacted by gambling addiction and all the associated aspects of this insidious industry. If elected to council, I would have no hesitation to use my position and influence to protect people from harm caused by the gambling industry. It's potentially a contentious issue, with our local Servicemans club basically only staying viable, largely to all their poker machines. I may lose votes due to this stance, but it's still worth championing regardless.

As Greens candidates, we represent a party that has a proven track record on supporting gambling harm minimisation. Queanbeyan Palerang is just across the border from the ACT, where the Greens, in minority government with Labor for the past 13 years, have enacted significant harm minimisation measures, with a strong policy on helping clubs diversify their income streams away from gambling revenue.
