Kate is the NSW Campaigner for the Alliance, focusing on poker machine reform. Her work involves community organising and support, encouraging local groups to form, providing logistical support and helping develop campaigning capacity. Her aim is to have dozens of councils adopt gambling impact policies, and have the state government bring in genuine reform measures. Kate has a background in the academic world, where her teaching of archaeology and field work in the Middle East have proven to be valuable, if unexpected, skills. She supplemented her PhD from Sydney University with a Masters in International Development Studies from UNSW. She has also years of campaigning experience in her local council area on issues of environmental protection and social justice reform, and currently is a member of the NSW Nature Conservation Council.
