Hogans Hotel in Wallan has applied for an additional 20 poker machines to add to their existing 45 machines. Already these existing machines take $4.7 million from the community each year! That's almost $13,000 every day!
Unfortunately, the application was approved by the Victorian Commission of Gambling and Liquor Regulation BUT it was a very narrow decision! The Commission can only approve an application if they find there would be a benefit or neutral outcome to the community. In this case they found there would be a neutral outcome. Mitchell Shire Council have listened to community concerns and have appealed the decision to the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT).
If VCAT hears enough community member's concerns about the application, then we can tip the balance and ensure that there are no additional pokies at Hogans Hotel!
Write a Statement of Grounds in the form on the right and tell the Tribunal why more pokies at Hogans Hotel will harm your community! The more unique the submission, the more powerful your voice will be! Make sure you are specific about the application and how your community will be impacted as opposed to dislike for pokies in general.
